- Native of Edinburgh Scotland who was the four-time champion of the Western Athletic Conference, University of Tulsa (2000-04)
- Three time All-American, University of Tulsa
- Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Athlete (2003 and 2004)
- Competed as an amateur for the victorious GB&I Walker Cup team, winning with the squad in 2003
- Member of the European Palmer Cup Teams (2001 and 2003)
- Won the British Boys Amateur Championship, the largest boys event in Europe and equivalent to the U.S. Junior Championship
- Turned professional in 2004, competing on the European Tour, the Challenge tour and several Mini Tours
