The Wildcat Golf Academy hosted Ryan Lumsden, the renowned biomechanist who is recognized internationally as the leading authority in 3-D biomechanical measurement and the practical application of collected data, for a one-day event with the WGA College Bound golfers this past weekend.
Each college bound player who took part in this event had their full swing analyzed by Ryan using a 12 sensor-capturing device. Over the next few days the WGA coaches and Ryan will discuss his findings in detail. These findings will allow the coaches to better assess the efficiency of each player’s swing and to design a long-term swing plan for the winter.
The WGA coaches will also use this information and apply it to each player’s physical evaluation performed by Scott Barthlama, the new Performance Director for the Wildcat Golf Academy, to outline the correlation between swing deficiencies and physical limitations.
The Biomechanical analysis allows our instructors, along with Ryan, to correlate the physiology of a player to how they swing. We can then prescribe gym exercises that reduce the risk of injury, as well as correct any swing movements that are putting excessive stress on joints or other parts of the body.
