WGA Members Showcase Their Talent in the Illinois State Tournament

It’s state tournament time in Illinois and many Wildcat Golf Academy members showcased their talents in the Sectional Championship, earning individual honors and helping their teams advance to the state championship.

  • Loyola’s Bennett Cotten earned medalist honors at the Sectional Championship at Winnetka and led the Ramblers to the Team Championship! Cotten, who shot a 71, has been a member of the WGA since its inception in 2011.
  • Four members of the Loyola Academy team are WGA members: Matt Jacobson (Jr., 71); John Kryscio (Fr., 78); and Nick Rossini (Sr., 79).
  • New Trier finished second and advanced to the state championship at the Winnetka Sectional led by Matt Murlick (Jr., 75) and Andrew Huber (Jr., 74).
  • Charlie Van Cleave (So., 76) and Glenbrook North also advanced to the state championship.
  • In the 2A Sectional Championship, Joey Sallerson (Sr., 73) and Chicago Latin advanced to state with a second place finish.
  • North Shore Country Day won the 1A Sectional at Seneca. Charlie MacVicar (Jr., 78) and Daniel Viellieu (Sr., 79) were members of this championship team.
  • Katie Lillie, a sophomore at St. Charles, won the Illinois Girls AA Sectional at New Lenox. Lillie shot a 69 and led St. Charles North to a second place finish and a trip to the State Championship.
